Frequently Asked Questions:
What kind of training is offered by the Order of Scáthach?
The order provides training in psychic abilities, raising and using magickal energy, divination, healing and psychic and physical self defense. Students can study on line or in person at the Motherhouses related to our various preceptories. From time to time we offer workshops in various cities and at Pagan events. Lessons and rituals are available on line from our Training Blog (see the Links page).
Do I have to be a martial artist to become a member?
You don’t, though a lot of us are. The Order of Scáthach has four main training streams related to the various Magickal Weapons (Sword/Athame, Staff/Wand, Cauldron/Grail, Shield/Stone) which lead to a fifth (Mind/Spirit). Being a Warrior isn’t about physical combat, it is about taking charge of your life and facing your fears. We teach a lot of martial arts techniques, but these are to help students develop a feel for energy flow (chi) and to develop confidence.
What do I need to do to join the Order of Scáthach?
No previous experience is required. You need to write to the Grand Master (link below), giving us your name (mundane and magickal), birthday, address, and phone number. We’d like to know what your spiritual path is, why you’d like to join, and what you expect to gain from being a member.
Can my coven/grove become a preceptory of the Order of Scáthach?
If you are an established group and would like to become a Preceptory within the Order of Scáthach, please write to the Grand Master for details.
